'CONTAINER AND CONTENT. In a general way, a portfolio is accepted as a container to a series of contents that expose an author’s path in a certain scope. Those contents are manipulated in order to please the eyes to whom, for any unusual reason, has the time and gives in (or not) to boredom. The Architecture is lost. The content is not judged by intrinsic qualities but by graphic appeal, by the container. Among many, the purpose is to be distinguished in any way (as it is the case beyond the reflection) in a tiny expectation of getting the job. This situation is not restricted to portfolios. It is, equally, a symptomatic aspect of contemporary built Architecture, in which the content is deprecated depending on the container, leading decadently to loss of meaning.’
THESE PAGES WERE INTENTIONALLY LEFT 'BLANK'
This work was created as a critic to a certain way of doing things, more specifically, to how a young architect searches for a job in the world of Architecture, but also, to how Architecture is nowadays thought and conceived. It led, unexpectedly, to a position in CCCB - Carlos Castanheira & Clara Bastai, arquitectos Lda and to the opportunity of collaborating in the international projects of the portuguese master Álvaro Siza Vieira.
